The Ancient Practice That Modern Life Needs Most
The Sabbath is one of the oldest and most countercultural ideas in human history. One day in seven: stop. Don't produce. Don't consume. Don't optimize. Rest, worship, and be present to the people and the God in front of you. It was radical when God commanded it to a nation of former slaves, and it remains radical today — because the pressure to be always on, always available, always connected, is if anything more relentless now than ever.

What Actually Happens on a Phone-Free Sunday
The first phone-free Sunday is usually a little uncomfortable. You'll reach for your phone out of habit and remember it's in a drawer. You'll feel momentarily bored, a little restless. This is not a sign the experiment is failing — it's a sign that the habit was deeper than you thought. That restlessness is actually the withdrawal of a low-grade dopamine loop you've been feeding dozens of times a day. Give it an hour.

Conversation with your family becomes the thing happening, not something happening alongside something else. - Reading — actual books, together or separately
